Decorative pieces - Maya World theme Embryos

Embryos are a smaller and simpler version of my originals and limited editions.

Each is signed, numbered and comes with an authenticity certificate, care card and display stand. Although they are food safe, I highly recommend a decorative use.

This series features hand painted motifs, dichroic glass and gold paint accents. Dichroic glass colors as well as the color of the central motif can vary.

Most of the designs have been inspired by Mayan frescos. Some are Aztecs or Toltec traditional motifs.

A few words about the Maya world...

Between the middle of the second millennium B.C. and the 16th century A.D., Mexico was home to a mosaic of different cultures who formed the great civilizations of Mesoamerica. In high mountain valleys and lush tropical lowlands, they erected impressive cities dominated by pyramid-temples. Teotihuacan, Toltecs, Olmecs, Zapotecs, Mayas and Aztecs are only some of the people that "built" Mesoamerica. These people developed writing systems, complex mathematics, sophisticated calendars et original art forms.

After the "discovery" of the New World, they have been viewed as heartless animals, noble savages, pacific astronomers and the custodians of ancients secrets from Atlantis. This shows how difficult it is to understand Mesomaerica, given the difference in our basic world view and theirs.
