Dragons are some of the most traditional Chinese good luck symbols. In China, dragons representations can be seen everywhere. They are the ultimate symbol of power, this is why they have been chosen to represent the Chinese Emperors. Dragons also represent the masculine energy (yang) and carry a powerful force of creativity and activity.

A Feng Shui dragon symbolizes success in any achievement as well as prosperity. Placing a dragon image in the office is always said to bring good fortune.
The east side is the best place where to place the dragon to represent excellent Feng Shui. This is why places with excellent Feng Shui are said to enjoy the dragon’s cosmic breath.

The Feng Shui good luck dragon shown here is from my series “Spirit of Copperopolis”. It is a series of glass tiles framed in hand hammered copper and has been named after a famous Arizona Ghost Town (Arizona being known as the copper state).
Each frame is 10″ square and 3/4″ thick. The copper is sealed to be protected against oxidation.
The kiln-formed glass tile, 5 1/2″ square, features:
- black glass base with copper hand painted motifs,
- complementary dichroic accents along the edges,
- hand painted 14K gold decorations.

Literally, Feng Shui means “wind and water”. It is an ancient Chinese practice of living in balance with the environment in order to benefit from the surrounding energy (or Chi) and enjoy good fortune.
The laws of Feng Shui are used to differentiate between auspicious and inauspicious land sites and they provide instructions for positioning homes and designing rooms layouts in ways that will enhance the quality of life of their owners. They also lay down guidelines for life’s different situations.

The study of Feng Shui, that I have started several years ago as a hobby, takes us on a fascinating journey where mystical beliefs, astrology, folklore and common sense blend. It opens the doors of a magical world of dragons, tigers, wind and water, Yin and Yang, positive and negative energy forces, cosmic breath and energy flow.
Making a house a home is an important part of our lives. When we succeed at it, this is the place in which we will renew ourselves. I truly believe that living an harmonious life in an harmonious home makes us happier people.
This was the first post of a series. Stay tuned!

In my story, I indicate that awards and recognitions are not what motivate me. And that’s true. This is not what keeps me going through good times and bad times.
But when I get one, please allow me to brag about it
One out of my 15 limited editions of Jaguar Knight, Lord of the Forests, has been selected for the 2009 Arizona Governor’s Commission of the Arts Award. This is a huge honor and I am really excited about it.
Each year, only 6 artists are chosen in a particular media. In March, there is going to be an exposition in a local museum (I do not know yet where it is, but stay posted…) and in April, a diner where the Governor will present the awards.

A bientôt!

OK, I know my booth number. It is 1423. This is in the Handmade Gifts and Accessories area, just before the internet cafe.
You can see the map by clicking here.
ACRE 2009 is going to be my first wholesale show and this is pretty much a big deal for me. Lots of logistic to prepare… booth design… marketing materials… advertising… all of that is not yet the routine for me.
I hope to see you there!
